May 22, Tuesday 2012, Anouncement for the Zarins' Festschrift on Stanford Vascular Surgery website: On May 25th, the Stanford Vascular Family will celebrate the career and accomplishments of our founding Division Chief, Dr. Christopher Zarins. Dr. Zarins retires at the end of May, after a Stanford career spanning 19 years, including 12 as Division Chief (1993-2005). The schedule for the Zarins' Festschrift includes speakers from all phases of Dr. Zarins' career; medical school, training, and his faculty leadership positions at Chicago and Stanford. Included as well will be an overview of Dr. Zarins' recent business ventures in medical entrepreneurship. All interested individuals are invited to join us. February 14, 2008 - Congratulations to Benjamin Y. Rafii, medical student in Dr. Zarins' lab, for winning Second Place in the 2008 International Society of Endovascular Surgery Research Award Competition in Scottsdale, AZ! His paper was entitled“Lateral movement of endografts within the aneurysm sac is an indicator of stent-graft instability”. All of the other finalists were physicians and fellows and Ben were the only medical student to be included in the six finalists who presented their work in Phoenix on Monday of this week.

February 13, 2007 - Congratulations to Craig Goergen, graduate student in Dr. Taylor's and Dr. Zarins' lab, for winning 1st place in the basic science research category of the International Society of Endovascular Specialists Vascular Fellow's Competition in Scottsdale, AZ. His paper was entitled "Increased Arterial Abdominal Aortic Wall Motion: Possbile Role in Aneurysm Pathogenesis and Design of Endovascular Devices."

Johnson, RDMS, RVT, FSVU, who finished her service as the Director of Vascular Laboratory Services Division of Vascular Surgery from 1993 to 2006, and joins the research in the group.
